How to apply
Complete the board application. Selected applicants will be invited to a short interview and orientation.
Cornerstone Market is a Christ-centered nonprofit discount grocery store and community resource hub serving Casper and surrounding communities. We provide deeply discounted groceries and essentials alongside emergency food support and practical, faith-informed encouragement—delivered with dignity.
We are recruiting volunteer general board members for our startup year. This first-year board will be hands-on: helping build a strong foundation, expanding partnerships, and actively supporting fundraising.
What you’ll do
• Provide governance and oversight to protect the mission, ensure wise stewardship, and support long-term sustainability
• Attend monthly board meetings and come prepared (review agenda/materials in advance)
• Serve on a committee or take on action items between meetings as needed
• Act as an ambassador in the community: share the mission, build relationships, and represent Cornerstone Market with integrity
• Participate in fundraising in ways that fit your strengths (introductions, donor conversations, events, grant support, stewardship)
Time commitment
• Monthly board meeting (typically 60–90 minutes)
• Additional time for committee work and fundraising: approximately 5–10 hours per month (varies by season and needs)
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for people who are:
• Mission-aligned and comfortable serving with a faith-based, Christ-centered board
• Collaborative, humble, and able to work through disagreement with unity and respect
• Willing to roll up their sleeves in a startup environment
• Committed to dignity-first service and protecting the trust of the community
Experience in any of the following is helpful (not required): nonprofit governance, finance, fundraising, grants, legal/compliance, HR, retail/operations, facilities/project management, marketing/communications, community partnerships.
In our startup year, every board member participates in fundraising. This does not mean everyone must “ask for money” in the same way. It means each board member contributes to resource development through at least one or more of the following:
• Making introductions • Joining donor meetings • Helping with events
• Supporting grants • Thank-you calls/notes and donor care
Basic requirement:
• Willingness to sign board policies (confidentiality, conflict of interest, code of conduct)

Stock shelves and organize inventory
Help us keep the store running smoothly so families can find what they need.
Assist at food pantry days
Greet families, help with distribution, and make people feel welcome.
Support community events
Help with fundraisers, holiday drives, back-to-school events, and seasonal outreach.
Help with special projects
Building maintenance, signage, setup—whatever needs doing to get us ready to serve.
